Manchester is my home and much of my work concerns this vibrant city and its artistic nature. I spend much of my time in its music venues, in its quirky bars and cafes, and so much of my work concerns these places and its people -helping bands with album artwork, and taking pictures of these places for local news features.
Then there is event photography, weddings, festivals – special events that simply need someone with strong organisational skills, snapping every few seconds to capture those special moments.
Off the beaten track travel photography is another favourite sphere. I have recently journeyed through the Middle East to capture images that break with the war torn, oppressive stereotypes. It wasn’t too hard!
As you can probably tell, for me as a photographer every project is a fascinating prospect. There are stunning images to be found in the everyday that can rival and surpass those of the extraordinary. The sight of a crushed coke can vomiting brown gloop down a fag strewn pavement can be just as attractive as prayer time in an Umayyad mosque in Syria.
And, there is no need for embellishment. If the photo is not captivating in itself, why Photoshop it? My pictures are honest, true representations of the site that meets my eye…no matter how ugly.
If you think I can be of use to you, and I struggle to find a “why not”, then please get in touch. My work has featured in local publications such as the Manchester Evening News to nationwide advertising campaigns with the NSPCC.
